Restringing...

Of course, the final step was to re-install the bridge and string her

up.  Luckily, I didn't break a string or discover too late that I lost

                           or forgot something.

The Verdict:

This old beat-up sitar plays as good as ever! The fine adjustments and improvements made by Tony Karasek are still in tact.

This whole repair took less than two hours of my time.  Although I wouldn't want this to happen again, the experience of working with my hands and learning something new was enjoyable.

I also enjoyed putting together this online documentary of the project.  You can find other step-by-step pictorials of sitar repairs on the Web, but this little drama happened to me: a novice do-it-yourselfer.  I hope the words and pictures I have provided give you the information you need to decide your course of action if tragedy strikes your sitar!
